Bali Provincial Government is holding the annual “Bali Art Festival” event from 12 June to 10 July 2010. The event is being held to promote cultural tourism in Bali, while increasing awareness to the tourists.
Even though it is held every year, there is still a popular turn out of both tourists and locals to this event. Thousands of visitors and locals throng the streets to watch this cultural parade which starts as the front of Jaya Sabha and ends at Tama Budya in Denpasar.
The Bali Art Festival costs billions of Rupiah and is supported by thousands of artists from various regions of the Island as well as several other provinces. You will be able to enjoy Balinese artistic expression including cultural children’s games, teenage romances expressed in art through to the procession of ‘Ngaben’ the cultural cremation ceremony.
The parade also features cultural art attractions from various areas in Indonesia, like Lampung, Kalimantan and East Java. The “Reog Ponorogo” will represent the East Java area.
Other countries such as Japan also joined in the festivities. Participants from the State of Sakura showcase their unique culture by demonstrating the technique of the motion samurai swordplay. The Balinese Traditional Gamelan accompanies this Japanese samurai performance. If you’re staying in Bali during this period, do not miss out on this spectacular event
