As a part of its 2010 environmental program, one of 5 star hotels on the beach at Tanjung Benoa, Conrad Bali, has just planted 500 mangrove saplings at the neighboring Tengkukung Beach.
It is Bali provincial forestry office that provided for the local community in support of the coastal preservation efforts.
Michael Burchett, the General Manager of Conrad Bali said: “Team members at Conrad Bali felt strongly about playing a part in conserving the lovely beaches where Conrad Bali is situated.
“The planting of the mangrove trees will assist in the protection of the coastal environment in Bali and also guarantee the sustainability of the people and communities that live here.”
Mangrove trees help to keep coastal areas protected from erosion and storm surges particularly during cyclonic weather and tsunamis
