It's not only affordable, but also has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I think people are more prepared to ventue that bit further on the plane now, as you can make up for the cost of the flight with cheaper accommodation and cost of living. But, if you're looking for a peaceful retreat and Bali seems really far away then Koh Samui island in Thailand is another great option. Everything from architecture to landscape of the villa was breathtaking. I and my family really had the time of our lives! I agree that Bali is a great place to holiday.
