EarthCheck, the world’s leading sustainable travel and tourism certification organization has recognized Bali’s Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa, resort’s commitment to environmental practices.
The EarthCheck Program evaluates key environmental indicators such as energy and water consumption, and total waste production as well as community commitment.
Using the EarthCheck tool, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa committed itself to benchmarking local environmental and social issues such as biodiversity conservation, environmental investment and enhanced community benefits. This included submitting a year’s worth of operational data, and having it compared with that of similar properties. As a result, it achieved Bronze Benchmarked status.
“I am delighted that Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa has achieved Benchmarked status,” said Stewart Moore, CEO of EC3 Global.
“Going well beyond mere “tick box” action is not a simple task,” he continued. “It involves the commitment of all staff, visitors and key stakeholders. “Nusa Dua Beach Resort & Spa has become an example of a community organisation dedicated to environmentally sustainable living, and the EarthCheck logo serves to demonstrate that its claims are credible,” he added.
The Nusa Dua Beach Resort & Spa knows that Bali is one of the world’s top destinations and needs protecting, and without taking a pro-active stance, the island’s environmental gems will deteriorate,” said Reto Torriani, general manager of Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa.
“We are also committed to a building a sustainable future for the community, so reliance on imported labour is reduced,” he added. “We truly believe in Bali, and in the Balinese people.”
The five-star Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa is approximately 25 minutes from Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport. The hotel features 382 rooms and suites as well as five restaurants, four bars, three swimming pools, and the award winning—and recently renovated—Nusa Dua Spa. The resort also offers 150 meters of private, white-sand beachfront including access to the world-class shopping and other attractions.
