Ubud Bali – 8th Ubud Writers and Readers Festival
An annual literary festival, Ubud Writers and Readers Festival will be held this year on 5 – 9 October 2011.
The theme for the 8th Ubud Writers and Readers Festival is “Nandurin Karang Awak – Cultivate The Land Within”.
This theme is taken from epic poem Gaguritan Salampah Laku by Ida Pedanda Made Sideman, which is one of greatest Kawi Wiku and Poet Priest.
This Ubud Bali Festival will be officially opened by the Festival founder and director Janet de Neefe introduces writers and readers to the 8th UWRF. Traditional dance completes the welcome on 5th October, 9 AM at Neka Museum.
This Festival attracts participant not only from Bali, Jakarta and other big cities of Indonesia but also from neighboring countries such as Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
In the year 2008, almost 58% participant traveled from overseas to the Festival in Ubud Bali. The Festival expect to continue to promote tourism to Bali and Indonesia by further increasing the number of overseas visitors to the Festival.

Selamat Idul Fitri
Idul Fitri would be on September 10th and 11th, 2010.
This is a Moslem Holiday New year Holiday, 1 Syawal, 1431 Hijriyah but it is a national Holiday for all religion in Indonesia. Before Idul Fitri is coming, Moslem must do a Fasting (Puasa) for a month. Fasting will started at 05:00 am to 07:30pm (13.5 Hours). When fasting Muslim can not eat and drink and do the bad things like lying, bad rumours, etc. At the opposite it is suggested to do the good things, and praying to get closer to the God, creator of the world. Before Idul fitri, Moslem also need compulsory gift called “Zakat” to the poor people. This gift is compulsory for all Muslim, since baby till old people that still have something to eat for tomorrow. It is to build a sympathy deep in the heart.

Virgin Blue announced new flights to Bali. Increasing their services to Bali will take affect as of the 1st June 2009 with flights direct from Sydney and Melbourne being added. Flights from Adelaide have also been increased from twice a week to 3 times a week also beginning in June.
A representative of Virgin Blue said Bali is a popular destination for Australians and with an increase in connecting flight from Melbourne and Sydney the obvious step was to increase the direct flights to Bali.
