A number of authors, readers, and fans of writing from around the world will once again gather Ubud, Bali. For the ninth time, the annual Ubud Writers and Readers Festival 2012 will be held on October 3 to 7, 2012 in this small beautiful town.
The 2012 theme pays homage to one of Indonesia’s greatest contemporary writers Pramoedya Ananta Tur and his epic novel Earth Humans or “This Earth of Mankind”. Building on the legacy Pramoedya’s festival program team has visited 25 cities across Indonesia to interact with established writers, and Uncover brilliant young minds to weave into the program.
To support a variety of exciting and varied program at Ubud Writers & Readers Festival 2012, a number of authors Indonesia will be involved.
Workshop sessions in this event will include memoirs, poetry, fantasy stories, fiction, screen writing and travel writing. There are also several free events, such as special performances from Lampung and Street Theatre The famous Party collaborated with Komseni orchestral music, Joged Bungbung Dance, shows a number of bands, and street poet.
In addition, at this year’s festival will also present Art and Food Market, the place where authors and participants can simultaneously enjoy the beauty of the gorgeous Tjampuhan Ridge. In this area there are also “Home Read” or “Reading Room” to be colored a special reading program and exhibition of traditional clothing, batik, painting, sculpture, and jewelry from artisans Ubud.
