The 160-strong Badung Lifeguard Department, who take care Kuta Beach and other famous surf and swimming spots in Bali, have their new uniforms, hats, sunglasses and surfboards which is sponsored by Quiksilver and Coca-Cola.
These new stuffs was presented at Kuta Beach during a break in a training programme. Tipi Jabrik, as the surf team captain did the presentation, tech manager Sam Gosling, Coca-Cola Indonesia’s business services director Bruce Waterfield and Quiksilver advertising and promotions manager Ni Putu Purniati.
“Having these new uniforms means a lot to us, for now when we are out on the beach we can be even more proud of our jobs as lifeguards and everyone on the beach knows exactly where we are.” Made Suparka said, he is the coordinator of Badung Lifesaving Department
The lifesaving department maintains seven posts – at Kuta Beach, Canggu, Dreamland, Padang-Padang, Uluwatu and two at Nusa Dua.
Quiksilver’s Ni Putu Purniati said: “They need good-quality equipment to perform at their best and they show a good example of how to be protected from the sun while at the beach.”
Waterfield said: “These lifeguards play a critical role each day in making Bali’s beaches safe so any help we can give them is the right thing to do.”
