In view of Indonesia’s proximity and tight cultural bonds, Malaysians are known to be frequent travelers to Indonesia. Most of Malaysian tourists enjoy shopping here, looking for culinary delights, and playing a game golf in Indonesia said Nia Niscaya, Director International Promotions of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
Malaysians have almost the same shopping habits as Indonesians. For instance, Malaysians planning a wedding and reception usually purchase their requirements in Indonesia, since their traditions and habits are similar. They usually specially order traditional Kebaya wedding gown from Indonesian designers, purchase presents and special invitation cards. One of the reasons for there eagerness to shop here is that selling prices are comparatively inexpensive. ?
Apart from shopping, Malaysian’s also enjoy the food and especially like to play golf in Indonesia. Almost all Malaysians like to eat Indonesian food, like the Rendang. Even though Rendang is discovered in there own area, but they still try to look for Padangs most well known dish here since the taste is dissimilar. They really love Rendang with the spicy taste. Golfing is also a favorite activity for holidaymakers from Malaysia.
In respect to statistics from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Malaysia ranks second among potential market sources of international holidaymakers. The total number of visitants from Malaysia in January-February 2012 was 159,734. A great many them visit Jakarta, Bandung, Padang, Batam, Bintan and Bali.
